Camping Photos

Finally, it's starting feel like summer is here. Daytime temperature is high 70s now. This past weekend we really needed the nice weather for our camping trip, and luckily, we didn't get a drop of rain up until we rolled into our tents. We planned on leaving early in the morning on Saturday but ended up having a late start; breakfast, coffee, shopping for supply etc.. None of us were actually concerned about securing a campsite because of the big event in the neighboring town. (Those crazy Ironman people... hehehe)

We paddled around on the first lake for a while, tried to get a site with a lean-to which was taken by a group, checked one site out but was too small, and I was sent to the other lake to check for one site we were thinking of. When I got back to tell the rest of the party that it seemed to be available, this couple I didn't even see before was unloading their stuff and told us that they were going for that site, so we turned our boats around and paddled some more...

The one we camped on was one of the best sites I ever camped. It was big enough for two tents and had a nice fire pit. We found a nice beech tree log for the campfire and cooking. The dinner was amazing as usual, but mosquitos were absolutely intolerable that forced us to go to bed kind of early.

Now, the photos. Here you go!

Vacation at SUNY

I always had a lot of fun visiting the places I used to live, so we decided to go back to see the school my husband and I went to 10 years ago for the weekend. It was funny but we only saw a handful of students on campus; being there during the summer and late in the afternoon, we almost had the whole school to ourselves. It sure felt like it. I love walking around in an enormous empty building!

The city itself is not a very common destination for vacation for most people, but for us it was definitely cool to be there. Away from nature, patched up roads, powerlines hanging low, those kinds of stuff are refleshing sometimes. Not much has changed after 10 years amazingly; bars, bookstore, record shop, chinese restaurant we used to go to were still in business.

It was raining on and off, and we planned to crash in a hotel to have a nice sushi take-out for the night, so I didn't take any night shots which I would like to someday, but here are my vacation photos!

Nature Walk

Shots from a trail that used to be a railroad in the 1800's. It was pretty amazing to see how flat it was being in this mountainous area. The water in a swamp along the trail was quite high, and the humidity made it a perfect condition for bugs to follow us. As I was taking photos, my husband noticed that Cora was surrounded by 5 or 6 deerflies, which persistently stayed with her the whole time, so we decided to turn around after about 3 and a half miles in.

Hello

My dog cora in black & white. She usually has such a peaceful expression which always makes me happy and often sleepy when I look at her.
